Over the last 18 years, the Eastside Culture Crawl has grown from a 45 artist event to one that brings more than 20,000 people to visit over 450 artists in their studios. We’re celebrating our eighth year in the Eastside Culture Crawl at melk art & design, and because we love our community, and the neighbours and kids that shape it, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind family event to celebrate the annual 4-day visual arts festival.
This year, with the support of the ECC and Opus Art Supplies, we are inviting kids and families into our studio at 936 Clark Drive for a hands on free creative workshop called ‘Crawling for Kids’! Young artists can spend the weekend getting creative and have their pick of screenprinting and stenciling projects designed especially for them. Children are invited to create their own works of art, share their wish for the future in our interactive community installation, and experience their own creativity in a unique studio space with the guidance from a working artist.
We invite kids and families to stop by Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23 from 12–3pm. Crawling for Kids gives children the opportunity to engage with the visual arts in their community on a tactile level and help foster a love of the arts. melk, along with the Eastside Culture Crawl and Opus Art Supplies aim to cultivate a strong sense of art and community in East Vancouver’s children and future generations of artists.
