Off The Rail Brewing Co.

If you’re going to drink a beer, drink a good beer. This is the mantra of Off The Rail owners, Steven Forsyth and Trigger Segal, the former owner and manager of downtown Vancouver’s notorious Railway Club. With a capacity for 14 taps (including 2 Nitro taps), East Van’s newest brewery offers no shortage of great beer for every palate.

Off the Rail features an impressive opening line-up of nearly a dozen beers. The brewery has something for everyone, from the occasional beer drinker to the diehard hophead. You’re definitely not starved for choice with a cream ale, red ale, kolsch, pilsner, stout, porter and four different IPAs on the menu.

Overwhelmed with all the choices? We recommend starting with the Hopinionated IPA and Raybuck Red Ale (hands-down their most popular beer). If you’re feeling adventurous try out the Smoked Porter, its well-balanced and smokey flavour is definitely worth your while.

Visit Off The Rail’s brand new tasting room at 1351 Adanac St. right on the bike path, just down the block from neighbours Bomber Brewing. Open 7 days a week, it’s the perfect spot for an after work brew or weekend visit with friends on your bike. The huge selection of great-tasting beer makes it a popular spot, so arrive early if you can. The tasting room has been packed every day since it opened in mid-February.

Can’t stay and enjoy the tasting room? Off The Rail offers growler fills for both 1L and 2L sizes. They’re also in the process of getting their delicious signature beers into cans, bottles and onto store shelves in the coming months.
